OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY

Typically, children tend to respect and even fear their fathers more than their mothers because men are generally considered stronger and sterner. A mother may not be as physically strong as a father, but she has immense strength in other areas. I usually say that I am where I am today because of God’s grace and my mother’s prayers. Whenever I did something that impressed her, she would say, “You will call one fellow, and 100 will answer.”

What she meant was, ‘You will be very influential.’ Today, God has blessed me with great influence over many people across the world. When a mother is happy with a child, whatever she deeply desires and prays over the child will come to pass.

Beloved, Ephesians 6:2-3 instructs you to honour your father and mother (not just your father alone) so that you can enjoy tremendous blessings. These days, many children don’t even pick up their parents’ calls.

If you have parents, you must be intentional about honouring them because it is a prerequisite for God’s blessings and long life.

When I was younger, my mother would instruct me to stay back at home to study while other children in the neighbourhood were out playing. Thank God I obeyed her.

Studying my books helped me to ignore many distractions and achieve great things in life. In appreciation, I took good care of her before she passed away. I made sure that I saw her at least once every two weeks so that she wouldn’t miss me so much. If your mother is still alive, or if you have mother figures in your life, ensure that you always honour them by being obedient and caring towards them.
