SATURDAY MARCH 29, 2025
TOPIC: HE PAID IT ALL
KEY VERSE: “Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father” (Galatians 1:4).
TEXT: GALATIANS 1:1-4
In recent times, there has been a resurgence of the despicable trend of kidnapping for ransom in several countries around the world. This savagery has a long history. The greatest of such ransom was paid to the Spanish Conquistador (conqueror), Francisco Pizarro, and his band of invaders in 1532-3 for the release of captured Atahualpa, the last emperor of the Incas, at Cajamarca, Peru. The ransom consisted of filling a room with gold and two other rooms with silver up to the level of the Inca’s reach. The total collection of gold and silver demanded by Pizarro and his men was enormous, amounting to nearly half a billion dollars in today’s money.
More than 1,500 years before, the Lord Jesus Christ paid the ultimate ransom, not in gold or silver. Unlike the vile ransoms demanded by kidnappers and invaders, Christ gave Himself as ransom to redeem humanity from sin and its consequences. Apostle Paul pointed this out to the Galatian Christians from the outset of this epistle to douse the teaching of the Judaizers that was creeping into the church. Christ’s ransom was also meant to deliver us from the demands of the Mosaic economy that consisted of rituals and ordinances as well as the corruption and misery of the present world. By shedding His blood and dying on the cross, Christ paid it all for us in keeping with God’s will.
We no longer struggle to be free, knowing that it is futile. Every penitent sinner who places their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will receive pardon and power from God for a brand new life. He is translated from the power of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son. No amount of religious zeal and self-righteousness can substitute for the ransom Christ paid for us. Therefore, anyone who desires to serve God but decides to avoid the route of repentance and faith in Christ remains condemned (Romans 3:23).
As the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ are mainly remembered worldwide this day, it is a perfect time to reflect on your stake in Him personally. Have you appropriated the benefit of His sacrificial and atoning death? Have you taken Him by faith as your Lord and Saviour?
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The blood of Jesus is powerful enough to save the vilest sinner.

TOPIC: THE BURNING BUSH
MEMORY VERSE: “And he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed” (Exodus 3:2b).
TEXT: EXODUS 3:1-10
A Pharaoh that knew not Joseph ascended the throne in Egypt and unleashed terror on Israel. He decided to depopulate and enslave the Jews. Yet they multiplied. They cried to God. He heard them and appeared to Moses who was in exile, and gave him a mandate to deliver the Israelites from their afflictions. In our text, Moses saw a burning bush with the leaves not consumed. He went to investigate it, and the LORD appeared to him "in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush."
Sometimes, we go through trials that are comparable to burning fire. We must remember God will come with deliverance if we can trust in His faithfulness. Remember, God identified with the three Hebrew young men in the fiery furnace and delivered them, leading to their elevation in the land of Babylon. God will show up in your situation to deliver and promote you. God will convert the enemies’ fiery fire to comfortable air conditioner for believers who trust in Him. The fire God permits us to pass through will lead to our elevation and His glory.
QUOTE: God will show up in your situation.
PRAYER: Oh Lord, stand by me in tough times. Amen.
CHALLENGE: No fire of the devil can consume God’s child.

TOPIC: DANGER OF DRUG ABUSE
KEY VERSE: “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18
TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:15-18
What is drug abuse? It is the use of illegal drugs or substances that causes abnormal behaviour and damages the body system. It could also be the misuse of legal drugs. Taking any typeof drug not recommended by a qualified medical practitioner is drug abuse. Drug abuse leads to social, physical, emotional, academic and health problems.
Drug abuse is deadly and no child should ever be involved in it as it has destroyed a lot of children who are supposed to be the future leaders of their generation. There are lots of children in the society that are involved in taking drugs, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, taking all sorts of substances that even the government has banned. This makes them involved in all sorts of crime in the society. You should never desire to be like them as they are under the influence and control of the devil.
If you are involved already whether secretly or openly in drugs or any substance, you must repent and promise God never to take them again. Then you must avoid those bad friends that influence you to take them, as evil communication corrupts good manners.
PRAYER: Lord, give me the power to overcome the temptation to be involved in drug abuse.
